A single source of truth for linehaul planners to manage daily, detailed planning of land transport operations across Europe.

(01)
Overview
The European Logistics Network Service is an internal tool used daily by linehaul planners to create and manage transportation plans across Europe. It supports the detailed planning of linehauls — direct, terminal-to-terminal transport flows. Designed for high-frequency operations across multiple countries, the platform enables planners to efficiently coordinate resources, optimize routes, and maintain control over a complex, time-sensitive planning process.

Problems
(01)
No in-house design expertise
Product decisions were made without UX training or structured input.
(02)
Non-linear planning flow
Users could skip required steps, leading to incomplete or invalid plans.
(03)
Outdated, inconsistent interface
Redundant fields, nested accordions, and legacy elements slowed down planning.
(04)
Unclear user flow
Unclear hierarchy and grouping made it hard to understand where to start for inexperienced planners.

(03)
Design System
The design system was created to bring consistency to a fragmented interface and support the complexity of logistics planning workflows.
It was developed in close collaboration with engineering, using Material UI and Angular as a foundation, and adapting components to meet product-specific needs.

(04)
Takeaways
(01)
Better navigation and clearer information architecture help planners quickly find what they need and make the tool easier to learn.
(02)
A structured flow and reduced redundancy make planning faster, easier, and less error-prone.
(03)
Built-in validation and feedback give planners reassurance that their plans are correct and reliable.
(04)
The redesign aligns with business goals and KPIs, delivering more value for both users and stakeholders.
